Men's Health Practitioner

I'm excited to join this exciting new community.  I have been working in the field of gender medicine and men's health for more than 40 years.  I was nearly born to this work, since I began when I was 5 years old when I attempted to make sense of the reasons my 42 year-old father had tried to commit suicide.  When my first son was born in 1969 I made a vow to him that I would try and be a different kind of father to him than my father was able to be for me.  I also made a vow to do everything I could to create a world where men, women, and children could be fully engaged in supporting each other in health.

Along the way, I entered and dropped out of Medical School, got a masters degree in Social Work and a PhD in International Health.

I'm still excited to be learning about how we can heal ourselves and support each other in healing.
