I've had some serious food intolerance issues for the last 5 years and am just learning about Leaky Gut Syndrome.  I'm following Dr. John Axe, and a few others, and am now reading The Autoimmune Fix, but wondering if anyone else has experienced this syndrome, and/or, have any helpful information on the best way to reverse the symptoms?

Greetings Shelley,

A great question for the group, I look forward to seeing responses. This is certainly topical and there are several people that have pursued the idea of clearing Leaky Gut as well as other autoimmune conditions by changing their diet. That seems to be the most common approach I've heard, but have also had people talk about reducing the stress in their lives (many ways including changing jobs or relationships, meditation, mindfulness exercises, etc.) as a way to attempt to reverse symptoms.

"Scientifically", I think we are a ways off from having "proof" that these things work, but it's an exciting time for the gathering of success stories to help us get there.

Hello. There can be little doubt that stress is a major player in this, but there are also a very low practical approach that we can't forget either.

I highly recommend probiotics. (home made) Understanding the gut-flora of bacteria is very important. Kefir, kombucha, krauts, sprouted flour etc should be part of everybody's life. I attach a book that I highly recommend. You can find more on youtube. This will change your life and your energies. Once you get there you will find it so much more easy to deal with stressers in your life. (witch you should not forget to do something about, Lissa is totally right: food is not the most important, but just such an easy way to get started)

Good luck

I would like to know if the leaky gut syndrome would be connected to polymyalgia which I have been diagnosed with afew months ago, what do you think?  Laura  woops this message doesnt seem to be going anywhere!!!! First time on here and I have NO IDEA!!!!

Hi Laura,

Your message is in the forum.

I'm no doctor, but I have been diagnosed with RA and had one practitioner suggest it might also be polymyalgic rheumatica. You ask a very good question. My personal belief is that a lot of conditions are connected to our gut via the food we eat and the toxins we ingest.

Given the number of people reporting improvements in their health after a change in diet, it's hard not to think there might be a connection.

Good luck as you work through this.
